The British Royal Family
The British Royal Family is the group of close relatives of the monarch of the United Kingdom. Today, they often perform ceremonial and social duties throughout the United Kingdom and abroad on behalf of the UK, but, aside from the monarch, have no constitutional role in the affairs of government.
The Queen and the Royal Family have cost the taxpayer £40m during the last financial year. The total is equivalent to 66p per person in the UK

I agree - once the Queen goes, I imagine it will provoke change. I think it will disappear completely but I imagine it'll be seriously thinned down and their power reduced even further.

I think this is a generational thing and support for the Royal Family is thinning considerably. Eventually their status and expense will get questioned more seriously (it's pretty much ignored by our governmental representatives)
